Let Kids be Kids

I’ve spent a lot of time trying to figure out what I should share. There is so much going on right now that it’s hard to figure out where to start. So, I decided to bring up something which hits a lot closer to home.

My handsome, funny, 8-year-old grandson loves his long hair. It is curly and cute and halfway down his back. He does not want to get it cut. I love it too, except when it’s time to brush it.

You may be asking yourself at this point, “why should I care about this?” Well, you should. When we go out to eat, even though he’s dressed in very obvious boys clothes, wait staff always call him she. So far, I don’t think he’s even noticed. But what if he does? What if he takes them calling him “she” as a sign he should be a girl? Who know what makes a child suddenly decide they should be the opposite sex?

Well, take that a step further. What if his teacher should decide he wears his hair long because he secretly wants to be a girl? If that teacher then decides to start talking to him about being a girl, could that be the precipice to make him decide he should be a girl?

This little boy should be allowed to wear his hair whatever length he wants to without anyone assigning him a new sex. That is why, kids should just be kids and do kid things while they are so young. That is why teachers shouldn’t have a position of imprinting on a child what sexual orientation, sexual identity, etc. a child has. They don’t actually know the child as well as the parent, or at least I hope they don’t.

I commend Governor DeSantis on his legislature Parental Rights in Education bill. We need more legislation like this. We need kids to do kid things and stop having the schools trying to label them.

My nephew, God bless him, is running for the school board here. He is a millennial but has worked hard to have a doctorate in physical therapy. He supports his family, attends church with them and does all the things we don’t think of millennials as doing. He’s a conservative. Thank the Lord for young (relatively) men like him who step up to try to stop this liberal hogwash from taking a hold in our school district.

More folks should be like him and take a stand. Maybe you could step up where you live. Do you believe it your children’s and/or grandchildren’s rights to be kids? Maybe it’s time to take a stand.

Excellent Jackie, believe me, people need to be aware of expressions like you posted, they relate & people need that now. We are going through difficult times, extremely difficult.
