My name is Ron Thomas. I served in the USAF from February 1982 until the last day of December 1992, nearly 10 years, 11 months. During my time of service, apart from basic training and technical school, I served in New Mexico, Guam, Idaho, with a number of TDY’s in Las Vegas, one in North Carolina, and one in Saudi Arabia. Perhaps there were others, but these are the ones I remember vividly. I was honorably discharged with the Clinton era force cutbacks. I am a husband, father, and grandfather. I currently serve as the local preacher and one of three elders in Chillicothe, Ohio.
What do I hope to accomplish in these blog posts I offer? We are a country of laws, laws based on a foundation that is either solid or fluid. As we are currently experiencing in society at the moment, our foundation seems rather fluid. With a fluid foundation of morality, there is no chance any one can know the difference between right and wrong or good and evil. If they think they can, then be sure to pose this question to them, taking it as far as you can go, “How do you know?”
I hope to generate a conversation amongst the members that encourages as movement back to the foundations upon which our country was founded.
Y'know I seem to use this verse allot, but it's a good one. “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” II Chronicles If we're to be "... One nation under God", it seems pretty logical we're gonna need God!
Welcome Ron. Glad to count you among us. Running religion...specifically...Christianity off from the public square was Marxist objective number one. Why? It requires allegience to something other than the State. Doing this incrementally over the past 40 years has resulted in a cult of the self...which the Establishment can exploit with wild abandon. We no longer have that moral center in common with one another as they have separated us from one another.
Currently, especially with the Biden Administration, America can not claim the moral high ground Putin even eluded to it. However, let’s focus on ourselves and the Republican Party. We don’t have to go all super religious to ask ourselves, is morality important in my life? Do I support truth, justice, life and honesty? Let’s think about that. The biggest disaster we face either is the lack of morality all around us or a product of the lack of morality.
I totally agree with you about how fluid our foundation has become, especially our morals. I get told all the time how old fashion I am by my children. I don’t think my values are old fashion, I just think somewhere along the line we suffered a loss of morality that needs to be recovered. Thank you for your service. I look forward to your posts.
